The Clinton Fire Department (CFD) provides emergency and first responder services in a 72.5 square mile service area.

The department currently employs fifteen full-time and eight part-time personnel, operating from two fire stations.
Recruitment
Clinton Fire Department is seeking men and women who value being part of a team that is both respected within the department and the community we serve. We look for individuals who know they have the potential to not only save lives, but to change lives as well.
Minimum requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate
United States Citizen
Minimum Age of 18
Valid US Driver’s License
IFSAC or Pro Board Certification in Firefighter I & II
Recruitment and Hiring Process
Steps in the Hiring Process:
- Complete an on-line application for Firefighter II. To access an online application, click here.
- Interview with the CFD Recruitment Team (this is where we get to know each other and assess your qualifications). The CFD Recruitment Team is comprised of the Assistant Chief and Shift Captains within the department and represents the diverse demographics of our organization and community.
- Successfully complete the Physical Agility Test (PAT) [details will be sent to you prior to your assigned test date]
- Interview with the Fire Chief
- Background check
- Medical and drug evaluation
The hiring process is a lengthy and involved process, which requires 100% successful completion of each step. Once all steps have been completed and an offer has been made and accepted, you will be fitted for uniforms and firefighting gear. The newly hired firefighter will then be assigned to a shift.
Pay and Benefits
Pay is based on qualifications and benefits, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield State Health Plan and retirement (PORS), will be discussed with Human Resources and Risk Management.
